Drugstore Makeup Starter Kit

August 16, 2017

Hello my lovely readers!  If you are looking for some good products to build your makeup starter kit, here are my recommendations.

Moisturizer:

 Neutrogena Moisture

Before you apply the foundation, you must moisturize your face.

I recommend this moisturizer, because it is good for sensitive skin.   It has an SPF 15 and it leaves your skin soft and smooth.  This is gentle on the skin, it has no scent, and it moisturizes the dry areas on your face.

Primer:

Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser and

NYX Pore Filler

A face primer covers pores and makes it easier to apply the product on your face.

These are the best affordable face primers I have tried.  I recommend the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser for dry skin and NYX Pore Filler for oily skin.

Foundation:

 Loreal Infallible

and

Loreal True Match Foundation

There are several kinds of foundations for every skin type.  You can find a foundation that is matte, dewy, and satin.

Some people have dry, oily, and combination skin.

If you have oily skin, I recommend the Loreal Infallible ProMatte

Foundation.

It stays on the face all day.  The coverage is similar to other high end matte foundations.

Loreal True Match Foundation is perfect for dry skin. This is a light to medium coverage foundation.

It blends well, goes on smoothly, and it feels lightweight on the face.

This doesn't make you look like you are wearing a foundation.

Concealer:

L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealer

This concealer is wonderful!  It hides dark under eye circles and you can use this to cover up some pimples on the face.

Before you apply the eyeshadow on your eyelids, you can use this concealer as an eyeshadow primer.

Setting Powder:

Maybelline Fit Me

Matte + Poreless Powder

If you have oily skin, this powder is perfect for you.  I recommend this product because it helps your foundation last all day.  This powder will not make your face look cakey.  It looks natural and beautiful on the skin.

I recommend the Loreal True Match Super Blendable Powder for dry skin.  It has a silky finish and doesn't settle into your creases and fine lines.

Brow Palette:

Maybelline Fashion Brow Palette

If you are just a beginner, this is a good brow palette to use.  It is easy to apply and it gives you a natural look.

Eyeshadow:

Maybelline The Nudes Palette

The Nudes Palette contains neutral eyeshadows.

This is a good product if you want to learn on how to apply eyeshadows.  You can create a makeup look from simple to smokey eyes with this palette.

Mascara and Eyeliner:

Maybelline Hyper Curl Mascara

 Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner

NYX Doll Eye Mascara

NYX Glossy Black Liner

A makeup look is not complete without applying some mascara on the lashes.

I recommend the Maybelline Hyper Curl Mascara if you want a natural look.  This is waterproof and it won't irritate your eyes.  It doesn't flake and it can curl your lashes even if you don't use a lash curler. This is a good product for beginners.

NYX Doll Eye Mascara is for someone who likes to have long lashes.  It lifts your lashes and gives you a doll eye look. This mascara can make your lashes look beautiful.

Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner is easy to use.   This product makes it easy to create a winged eyeliner.

NYX Glossy Black liner is perfect for someone who just wants to have a simple eye look.  This liner is retractable and it's easy to use.

Bronzer and Highlighter:

  NYX Illuminator

and

Rimmel Natural Bronzer

NYX highlighter is a good product to use if you just want a sheen of glow.  This is good to use for a daytime makeup look.

Rimmel bronzer blends easily and it looks natural on the face.

It gives you that perfect sun kissed color.

You just need to find the right shade for your skin tone.

Blush:

 NYX Stick Blush

and

Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush

If you want a natural look, NYX Stick Blush is a good product to use.  You can use a stippling brush, but it is much better to use your fingers when you are applying the product on your cheeks.

This is easy to blend and it's buildable.  NYX Stick Blush is perfect for a soft daytime look.

Wet n Wild blushes are highly pigmented for the price.  This blush looks beautiful on the skin. The longevity of this product is amazing.

Lipliner:

NYX Lipliner

NYX lipliner is creamy, blendable, and it lasts all day. It is highly pigmented and it won't dry your lips.

Lipsticks:

NYX Round Lipsticks

Maybelline Powder Mattes

Wet n Wild Lipsticks

Revlon Colorburst

These are some good lipsticks for beginners.  NYX Round Lipsticks are creamy and moisturizing on the lips.

The deeper shades are highly pigmented.  The lighter shades fades easily after eating and drinking.  If you don't mind reapplying your lipstick throughout the day, this one is good for you.

I know that some people hate matte lipsticks, because it feels dry on the lips.  The good news is that you can find creamy matte lipsticks such as Maybelline Powder Mattes, Wet n Wild lipsticks and Revlon Colorburst.

Makeup Removers:

Garnier Micellar

Cleansing Water

and

Maybelline Eye

and Lip Makeup Remover

After wearing your makeup all day, you need a good makeup remover for your face, eyes, and lips.

Maybelline Eye and Lip makeup remover is gentle on the eyes and lips.  This is good to use for waterproof makeup.

Garnier Micellar is a cleansing water for the face that effectively removes foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, and lipstick.

This is gentle and refreshes the skin.

Brushes:

You need good brushes to apply your makeup flawlessly.

For Face:

 *Powder Blush

 *Blush Brush

 *Contouring Blush

 *Highlighter Blush

 Tip:

I don't recommend a foundation brush for beginners, because it will be difficult for you to blend the foundation on your face.

A damp beauty blender is a good tool to apply your foundation.

 For Eyes:

 *Blending Brush

 *Crease Brush

 *Flat Eyeshadow Brush

 *Smudge Brush

Tip:

You can use your fingers to apply shimmery eyeshadows on the lids.

Spritz the eyeshadow brush  with water.  It enhances the color of the eyeshadow.

For Eyebrows:

 *Brow Brush

For Lips:

 *Lip Brush

For Eyelashes:

 *Lash Curler

I hope these suggestions can help you find the right products to build your makeup starter kit.

May you have a good day!

💖
